Let it dough!

Where better to way to spend Christmas than holed up in the kitchen baking, illustrator Christoph Niemann, who also brought us Lego NY, has been baking with his kids and creating some ace dough shapes. More can be seen on his N.Y. Times Blog.

Daito Manabe has worked some more on his brilliant electric stimulus sensors and extended the beats to the rest of the body.



He's also used it to control his friends faces with his own.



And made a Nike Music Shoe, his website and blog are full of amazing works.

Contrast and Compare

A short documentary video of an example of school bullying in Japan and strict control and pressure throughout childhood and later life. It can be viewed by clicking here, embedding not allowed sadly... picture from DaCafe I don't know much about it, as unfortunately it is in japanese, but from what you can see it is a photographer taking very idyllic pictures of his very adorable family, a happy contrast to the video.

Today I learnt a little bit about the area I live in from Wikipedia.

Flingern Düsseldorf

Flingern is a former blue-collar borough of Düsseldorf. Located northeast of Düsseldorf (proper), it is divided into two boroughs today: Flingern-Nord and Flingern-Süd. While Flingern-Nord has a younger population and is more attractive to middle-class families, Flingern-Süd is still mostly home to working class people.


Flingern was first mentioned in 1193 as a forested area that was ruled by the Knights Hayc of Flingern. In the 13th and 14th centuries the City of Düsseldorf grew on the grounds of the Knights Hayc von Flingern. By the end of the 14th century the knights lost their influence.


During the Industrial Revolution Flingern became an industrial and working class town and to this day it has many old and new factories. Only the old facade remains of the old baths of the early 20th century, which has been converted into a modern wellness center on the inside. An old steel factory was converted to a popular discothèque called Stahlwerk and was one of the early venues playing Techno music in the 1990s.

Erste Advent

There's nothing I love more than paper. It's amazing to see what people have made out of paper. Now that the Christmas period has officially begun there's even more reason to get crafty with paper. United Fakes have some great short films on their vimeo page.
